OUR HISTORY

Spud Speedway rose out of the potato fields in Caribou, Maine, when builder Bob Knowles of Unity, Maine, came to the County with a dream of building a brand new Speedway for all to enjoy in 1964. It started as a dirt track and one year later was paved and, for decades, has provided entertainment and excitement for so many people. Spud Speedway has created some of the best racers in New England with its door-to-door action. Maine Racing Hall of Fame Racers Bobby Alexander, Mark Jones, “The Flying Frenchman” Ernie Levesque, and most recently NASCAR Racer and ARCA National Champion Austin Theriault. Since 2009, a total makeover of the speedway has happened, ensuring the speedway will be here for years to come providing a variety of fun, family entertainment for all to enjoy.
